When the scorching summer heat of Antalya hits, you might find yourself wishing for a cool spot to dip your feet in. That's usually when Manavgat Waterfall comes to mind. But before you go, let’s manage some expectations: Don't expect a massive vertical drop like Niagara. Instead, picture a wide, powerful cascade flowing over a set ridge with an impressive roar.

One crucial detail to know before you arrive: This site is managed by the Manavgat Municipality (MELAS), not the Ministry of Culture. This means your Museum Pass Turkey is not valid here. To save you from that awkward moment at the turnstile, I’ve compiled the current fees, what to watch out for inside, and tips to escape the crowds below.

  • Entrance Fee (2025): 30 TL per person.
  • Museum Pass: NOT VALID (Municipal site).
  • Opening Hours: 08:00 – 20:00 (Every day).
  • Parking: Paid lot at entrance / Free spots across the street.
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair & stroller friendly (Ramps available).
  • Distance: 4 km from Manavgat Center, 76 km from Antalya.

Manavgat Waterfall Entrance Fee & Tickets

You pay the entrance fee at the turnstiles right at the entrance. Let's be crystal clear about the most common confusion: Museum Pass Turkey and Maximum Cards are not accepted here. Since this is a municipal recreation area and not an archaeological site, the national pass doesn't work.

As of 2025, the entrance fee is 30 TL per person. You can pay with cash (Turkish Lira is best) or credit card. Entrance is usually free for veterans and relatives of martyrs.

Parking Tip: The main parking lot right at the entrance is paid and can get chaotic during the season. If you have your own car, you can find free parking spots along the road just opposite the entrance or about 100 meters back.

What to Expect Inside?

Once you step in, you are greeted by turquoise water flowing with incredible power. It’s not about the height here; it’s about the flow rate. The sound alone is enough to cool you down mentally.

1. Observation Decks & The "Splash Zone"

There are wide observation decks right next to the waterfall. Especially in spring or after heavy rain, the water level rises to the edge of these terraces. If you want that perfect selfie in the front row, be prepared to get your shoes wet, it's part of the experience.

2. Facilities & Extra Costs

Inside the facility, you'll find souvenir shops, ice cream stands, and cafes. Prices here definitely reflect a "tourist hotspot," meaning they are higher than your local market.

  • Toilets: Restrooms are available inside and are kept quite clean. However, keep some small change (coins) with you, as they sometimes charge a small fee separate from the entrance ticket.
  • Photographers & Parrots: You will likely see photographers walking around with parrots or traditional costumes, offering to take your picture. If you decide to go for it, negotiate and fix the price beforehand. Don't let them put the parrot on your shoulder unless you are ready to pay, to avoid any surprise costs.

3. Accessible Travel

This is one of the more accessible nature spots in Antalya. If you are visiting with a wheelchair user or a baby stroller, you'll find ramps and flat surfaces leading from the entrance all the way to the main viewing areas.

Breakfast & Dining by the River

Manavgat Waterfall isn't just a "look and leave" spot; it's a classic location for a Turkish breakfast. There are restaurants lined up along the river where you can enjoy a "serpme" (spread) breakfast accompanied by the sound of rushing water.

While the prices are slightly above the average you might find in Antalya city center, you are paying for the atmosphere. If you are on a budget, a smart move is to spend 45 minutes enjoying the waterfall and then head to Side Ancient City or Manavgat town center for a more affordable meal.

Where is Manavgat Waterfall & How to Get There?

The waterfall is about 76 km from Antalya city center but only 4 km from Manavgat town center.

  • By Car: Take the D400 highway from Antalya towards Alanya. When you reach Manavgat center, follow the signs pointing north (towards the Taurus Mountains) that say "Şelale" (Waterfall). The road leads you straight to the gate.
  • By Dolmuş (Minibus): From Manavgat town center or the bus terminal (Otogar), look for minibuses labeled "Şelale - Sarılar". They drop you right at the entrance. If you are coming from Side, you first need to get to Manavgat center and then switch to the waterfall minibus.

The "Free" Alternative (Local Secret): If you want to avoid the crowds and commercial facilities entirely, you can cross the bridge to the opposite bank of the river. Just drive across the bridge and follow the dirt road. There is a wooded area there used mostly by locals for picnics. You get the same view from the other side, zero entrance fee, but no facilities. It's wilder, but quieter.

What to Do After the Waterfall?

Manavgat Waterfall is a great pit stop, but not a full-day activity. Combine your trip with these nearby spots:

  • Oymapınar Dam (Green Canyon): Just head further up from the waterfall source. If you want a boat tour and a real swim in emerald waters, this is the place.
  • Side Ancient City: Only 15 minutes away by car. You can see the Temple of Apollo and swim at the public beach.
  • Köprülü Canyon: If you are craving adrenaline, the rafting center of Antalya is about 45 minutes away.
